Blogs are taking the world by storm. There are professional blogs, personal blogs, topic specific blogs (i.e. health blogs), entertainment blogs, etc. The great thing about blogging: it is what you make it. Every blogis completely unique to its creator and there are so many different ways people blog. The trick is to find your niche and stick with it. Anyone can make a blog, but only some have the dedication to maintain a quality one that also help brands yourself in a professional manner.
No matter what kind of blog you run, here are a few tips on keeping your audience, present and future, interested:
Keep a clean and unified format. Layout is so important. You do not want any distractions to take away from your content.
Update regularly. It is obvious but make sure to set a schedule where you set aside a time specifically for blogging. Whether it be everyday, every 3 days, or once a week, you want to be reliable. If you start to struggle with new ideas then change your scenery, go for walks, try new things, and let those new experiences inspire your next several posts.
Be an active blogger. Follow other blogs, comment on posts, contact them with questions or compliments, etc. You can learn so much from your fellow peers.
Have an “About” page that explains what the purpose of the blog is and a little bit about yourself. Make it unique to you. Also have some sort ofbasic contact information available so readers can ask you questions, comment, compliment, etc.
Include links to your other social media sites. Branding yourself and gathering a dedicated following is the easiest way to prove yourself as a media professional.
