The one thing every single person in the world wants most, is success. Everyone’s definition of success may be different but all in all, it’s what we crave the most. The desire for success is what drives people in their careers and dreams. This desire may stem from human nature or it may be learned. Adults always ask kids what they want to be when they grow up because even at a young age, kids are already dreaming about their future careers. Even though success is unique to every person and every situation, everyone must work toward reaching their personal goals. Remember these four things to successfully land the job of your dreams:
Network. Networking is the best thing to do for your career. The best jobs are never advertised or posted online. Employers are more apt to trust their own network and ask people if they know people who comes to mind for a particularly amazing position.
Brand yourself. There are so many people going for any one job that employers are looking for people who stand out. And what’s a really good way to stand out? *cough* online portfolios. Online portfolios allow you to give employers the perception you want them to have about you--Make yourself stand out from other potential applicants by being more creative yet professional.
Cover letters are the best way to sell yourself. Do not get caught up talking about why you are qualified for a position--your resume does that. Talk about why you want the job but add your own personal flair to it. Make your first three sentences really interesting to grab the attention of whoever is reading it.
Research your company. This will help you write your cover letter and will really help you in an interview. Already being knowledgeable about the company shows that you are interested and dedicated.
