Blogging is incredibly popular nowadays. There are all types of blogs about anything and everything. A good start to creating a blog is to decide what exactly you want to blog about. Having an overarching theme will help you tailor your blog content. Along with coming up with a central topic, the next decision is to decide the type of content you want to display. Nowadays, there are video blogs, photography blogs, purely editorial blogs, and a mix of everything. There is no rule that you must choose one type of display and stick with it. Choosing how you want to display content is completely up to you but deciding early on what you kind of want to do will help you as you move forward. The next step is to choose your layout and overall aesthetic. You want to make your blog clean and logical. The goal is to attract as many people as possible so make your blog one that is functional. As you progress with your blog, it could be fun and interesting to add layers. For example, if you were a food blog and you posted original recipes to your audience, it would be interesting to add a page where people could submit their own recipes and have you try them. Then you could blog about trying specific recipes and what you liked or did not like (think Julie and Julia -esque). Including pictures would grab readers’ attention and the occasional video of a recipe experiment could be potentially entertaining. Something like that just added several layers to an otherwise narrowly-tailored blog. Although it is just an additional option, adding layers would be a great way to make your blog stand out. No matter what you direction you decide to take your blog, make it yours and have fun with it!
