Ruth Bader Ginsburg is our #wcw this week! There are a number of reasons to admire RBG. Most notably, as a United States Supreme Court Justice, currently serving in her 22nd year. The second woman to be appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court, Justice Ginsburg has always been outspoken in her support for equality. She has faced gender discrimination for much of her life, especially in her college years, only fueling her desire for gender equality. Justice Ginsburg’s success began in school as she received her undergraduate degree from Cornell, attended Harvard Law School, and later transferred and received her law degree at Columbia Law School, where she also tied for top of the class. She later taught law at Rutgers and Columbia and also co-founded the “Women’s Rights Project” of the American Civil Liberties Union. Her success does not stop there as she was appointed to the U.S. Court of Appeals in 1980 and served until her appointment to the Supreme Court in 19993. Ruth Bader Ginsburg has and continues to enjoy a long and successful career, inspiring and encouraging many along the way.
